This research will implement a 3 step mixed methods approach that utilizes visual research methods along with standard interview techniques, elite interviewing, and visual data analysis. 

 

Methodology

This research focuses on visual representations of Croatian identity through advertisements created by the Croatian National Tourism Board. These advertisements will be examined from three different angles: analyzing the visual document (the advertisement itself), analyzing the construction of the visual document (interviews with the industries that created these images), and examining the responses to the advertisement through photo elicitation interviews (reflections on the advertisement by members of the nation).
